Purchase Savings Bonds Securely Online

The U.S. Department of Treasure recently announced it will eliminate over-the counter sales of paper savings bonds on December 31, 2011. After that date, paper bonds will no longer be sold at financial institutions. Beginning January 1, 2012, members wishing to purchase savings bonds can do so through TreasuryDirect, a secure web-based system where members can manage and redeem electronic savings bonds online. Electronic savings bonds are secure and easy to manage with a TreasuryDirect account, and members will no longer have to worry about storing, misplacing or losing paper bonds.
