Junior Achievement Announces New Board Member

Junior Achievement of Northwest Michigan elected Karen Browne, President/CEO of TBA Credit Union, to its Board of Directors. Karen is a long-time resident of Fife Lake and is active in the Forest Area Schools.

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. Through a dedicated volunteer network, Junior Achievement provides in-school and after-school programs for students. The programs focus on three key content areas: work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Financial Peace University 2011

Congratulations to TBA Credit Union’s Financial Peace University graduating class of 2011! Participants spent 13-weeks learning how to better budget their money, save, reduce debt and build wealth.

TBA Credit Union is excited to welcome Christie Dompierre to the marketing team. Christie brings with her several years of marketing and advertising experience. She will be supporting TBACU’s Student Run Credit Union program and assisting with the overall marketing efforts of the credit union.

Credit Union Anniversaries

Karen Browne is celebrating her 20th anniversary with TBA Credit Union. Karen began her career with the credit union in 1991 with six prior years of financial experience. She has served in all areas of the credit union including member service, accounting, lending, and management. In 2002, Karen was promoted to Chief Financial Officer and in 2007, accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer. Her ongoing focus as CEO has been encouraging financial literacy and promoting community involvement.

Credit Union Anniversaries

Peg Klein is celebrating 25 years with TBA Credit Union. Starting as a part-time teller in 1986, Peg went on to work in the loan department as a Loan Officer. In 2008 she was promoted to Chief Lending Officer where she has been serving ever since. Responsible for managing the credit union's loan team, Peg also overseas credit card processing, mortgages and commercial lending.

Cherryland Humane Society Benefit

TBA Credit Union hosted a Rummage/Bake Sale on Saturday, June 11 to benefit the Cherryland Humane Society. Over $8,500 was raised for the struggling shelter.

Community members donated hundreds of items to sell in the Rummage Sale including dishes, books, collectables, jewelry, furniture, and baked goods. Volunteers from Snap Printing and Smith Haughey Rice and Roegge also joined in the fundraising efforts.

The Rummage/Bake Sale was organized by TBA Credit Union employees in response to recent news that the Cherryland Humane Society was facing serious financial challenges. TBACU Bowls for Kids!

TBACU Bowls for KidsTwo TBACU teams bowled in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan raising over $2030 on May 11 during Battle of the Banks. Team efforts resulted in a BIG win earning TBACU a trophy and bragging rights as the top fundraiser among area financial institutions.

March for Babies

March for BabiesThe TBACU Sweet Peas raised over $1400 to benefit the March of Dimes during last month's annual March for Babies event. In addition to walking a 4-mile route to raise awareness for the organization, another TBACU team spent the morning counting thousands of dollars in pledges.
