Beginning January 1, 2024, most U.S. companies must report their beneficial owners—the individuals who ultimately own or control the business—to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. For details, review the small entity compliance guide.
Sole Proprietor
- Registered Assumed Name/Doing Business As (DBA) certificate
- Proprietor’s valid, government-issued ID
- Tax Identification Number (TIN) for the entity proprietor
- Anticipated financial activity
Limited Liability Company (LLC) or Partnership
- Authorized signer’s valid, government-issued ID and Social Security (SSN)
- Beneficial Owner and Manager’s valid, government-issued ID and Social Security Number (SSN)
- Tax Identification Number of entity
- Registration with MI Dept of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
- Certified Operating Agreement or Partnership Agreement
- Registered Assumed Name/Doing Business As (DBA) certificate, if applicable.
- Anticipated financial activity
Non-Government Organization (NGO)
- Authorized signer’s valid, government-issued ID and Social Security Number (SSN)
- Tax Identification Number for the entity
- Registration with MI Dept of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
- Certified Bylaws
- Board-certified resolution with officer names and titles
- Registered Assumed Name/Doing Business As (DBA) certificate, if applicable
- Anticipated financial activity
